Château Picon

Château Picon is located on a plateau overlooking the Dordogne Valley; its southern exposure favours an ideal microclimate for the ripening of grapes.

Documents relating to the planting of the vineyards in the Seigneurie ("Lords's Domain") of Picon date back to 1070. For nine centuries, the families owning the property changed very little, illustrating the tradition of maintaining a heritage.
The vines currently cover an area of 102 hectares and have an average age of 35 years. The grape varieties consist of 55% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec.

The soil is predominantly gravelly, with a clay-limestone subsoil.
Growing techniques that respect the natural environment are employed with a view to obtaining high quality vines. Château Picon has sustainable agriculture (Agriculture Raisonnée).
Regularly receiving awards, Château Picon's wines enjoy an excellent reputation in both France and internationally.
